THE WIMBLEDON KITCHEN

It was such a pleasure to create this timeless, sleek bespoke cabinetry for a full house renovation and kitchen extension in Wimbledon. Our clients came to us looking for a classic but modern design that could stand up to everyday life, both their own and that of potential future tenants. This was a unique brief: to create a rental-friendly bespoke kitchen that they’d also be happy to live in themselves. They needed cabinetry that felt solid, beautiful, and practical for a range of lifestyles, with a layout that would work for anyone. “Impossible,” they joked, “but you did it!”

ABOUT THIS BESPOKE SHERE KITCHEN

A Bespoke Shaker Kitchen Designed to Last

In the heart of the new kitchen extension, the light and airy shaker-style kitchen is both welcoming and hardwearing. The natural timber construction offers strength and easy repairability if needed, an important consideration for a rental property, while also providing the tactile warmth only a beautifully made kitchen can bring.

The smart cabinetry is set off by quartz worktops and a Bora hob on the island and bold pendant lighting above. After thoughtful discussions around the positioning of appliances, the final design allows for sociable cooking while keeping the washing-up areas slightly tucked away. It’s a layout that works beautifully whether you're cooking with family or hosting friends. Even with the hob on the kitchen island, there’s still plenty of room to sit with friends at the breakfast bar for tea, coffee or something sparkling.

This bespoke kitchen opens onto a large living and dining area with sliding doors to the garden, creating a calm, connected space that flows effortlessly from indoors to out. Ideal for families and entertaining in summer.

A Practical Yet Elegant Utility Room

Designed to complement the main kitchen, the bespoke shaker-style utility room is a perfect example of good design. With neutral painted cabinetry, a traditional Belfast sink, and generous storage for laundry essentials.

By placing the washing machine and dryer side by side beneath a long worktop, we kept everything neatly contained; and it provides extra worktop to act as a prep kitchen when entertaining, and somewhere to store the dirty dishes away from the open-plan kitchen. A large window brings in plenty of daylight, making the utility feel bright and inviting. The space is even set up to house small appliances like a Thermomix, just one of the little touches that future-proofs the home.

The tall floor to ceiling cupboards also conceals the boiler and hot water tank, easy to access for servicing but nice to be out of sight. Being able to make these in bespoke sizes was essential as the spacing and access was complicated.

Handcrafted Wardrobes for a Calm, Organised Bedroom

In the master bedroom, we designed and made bespoke fitted wardrobes to fit in perfectly even where the ceiling which wasn’t straight. With hand-painted Shaker-style doors and a warm oak interior. Inside, the storage is tailored with a mix of deep drawers, open shelving, and hanging rails to suit everyday needs. Sleek handles add a contemporary contrast to the timeless aesthetic.

These made-to-measure wardrobes reflect the same commitment to craftsmanship as the kitchen and utility, built to last, thoughtfully planned, and a pleasure to use.

Whether you’re planning your dream kitchen or renovating a home to rent out, we design each space to suit real life; beautifully. Our showroom is based in Shere, near Guildford, Surrey. If you’d like to book a visit and chat through your ideas, we’d love to hear from you.

We chose Shere Kitchens after seeing some of their exceptional design work, and from our first meeting we knew it was a great decision. The team is an absolute pleasure to work with, and we really valued the fact that they’re an independent business — passionate, personal, and fully invested in what they do. We’re so grateful to the whole team — it’s become our favourite space in the house. Thank you!
